In Rows!

Back then Houston was called by ward. Today we visited the 3rd ward. I was most populated by African Americans . The 3rd ward is not a place of riches and gold, but more of being thankful for what they have.

The project row house is located in the 3rd ward of Houston.
Inside of these houses are pieces of art work that artist created ..
but they stay there for about a week or a couple to make it

This is the picture of some the row houses.. the unique thing about the row house is that  they made more
houses for young mothers who don't have shelter and they get to live there with there children
but they must finish school and pay at least a low income

This poster is the 3rd ward and it invites people to come and look at the art work
and go to there parties and kids camp.

Architecture

When first drive into Houston or think about it. We picture the tall skyscrapers, but those skyscrapers have more than just a straight side. The have design and detail that up close make them look beautiful!

Well as we rode to downtown on the metro, which was an amazing and fun
experience, we were on our way to look at the architecture on the skyscrapers
around the city. Let me tell you those skyscrapers
are HUGE!!!!!

This is a picture of the chase bank from across the street. I honestly love the way the chase bank looks because from far away it looks plane and close up it has lots of details to it and it is incredible.
This is the close up of the front door of the chase bank.
It has lots detail and it has some parts made of gold.
The cool part of the Chase Bank is that inside is has hidden underground tunnels with restaurant or little shopping centers for the workers.

This elevator is the elevator that took us to the 60th floor
it was kind of nerve recking. I didn't realized how up we
were until we all got down an walk to the front side of the  building.

This is the view that I got to see on the 60th floor.
Everything looked so tiny and so plastic like.
There is like actual stair that take you all the way up but I really don't think anyone would use them, its too tiring!

The Mullet

The Mullet is a hidden place I had no idea it even existed! It is a place where artist can do Graffiti Art.
Yes! Graffiti is no longer taken as a act of violence, it is actually considered an art! Every inch of the building is covered with at least one spot of paint or filled with color

The Mullet can be found behind the Almeda Mall in Houston. This old building was donated to the man who started the mullet. The reason the mullet was started was to raise donations for autism.

This Art is incredible and it must have too

ken lots of hard work and dedication. This painting is the first thing you see as you approach the site. It is every large and full of color its like I am looking at the rainbow.
This is an alley on the side of the building full of nothing but graffiti art. Anyone can come here and express themselves by art. The mullet sometimes sponsor  events like  music bands come or artist from all over the world and the money goes to children with autism.
Inside a hidden door between the art wall is the art shop. In this little shop they sell all kinds of spray paints, markers or books with ideas on what to paint. Of course you can only purchase a bottle of spray if you are over 18. Also sold in the shop are other artist art works.

A wall next to the little shop is made by an artist with great potential. It looks kinda creepy but the colors that the artist used on top is very good technique.

Keep Houston Scary!

In Houston we have some spook building in our mist. One of them was the Jefferson Davis Hospital. Now the Hospital is converted into a apartment complex. I don't about you but just the thought of living in a haunted place give mes the chills.

The residence of The Jefferson Davis Hospital also have a backyard view of the Cremation Building, spooky isn't it!

This building was also a part of the Jefferson Hospital,
It was where the nurses would sleep and keep the babies

For our lunch, we ate at the Spaghetti Warehouse, which is said to be one of the scariest place. Well only eat on the second floor. I personally didn't feel any ghostly spirits, but some say they lurk around.

Oranges and Cars

One of the things I had no idea that existed in Houston was the Orange Show and The Car Show. These two place are very unique and they seem like it had to be lots of work to do.

The Orange Show was built in 1979 and is located on 2401 Munger Street in Houston.

Mr. McKissack loved oranges, so he made a park that expressed his passion for them. Now The Orange Show is used for the community and for special events that have during the year.

This a bit overview of what the Orange Show looks like. Its small but colorful. It reminded me of the circus and I love the circus. The Orange Show seem like it was made with love and lots of hard work. Now The Orange Show is a historical landmark.

The Car Show is once a year and people from all over thre nation decorate there automobiles very wild and have a parade to show of there crazy cars.

This is one of the cars that is showed of in the parade. Yes! they actually take this car out and drive it one the street. It looks crazy but this also considered art work.

Art Inside

I personally have never gone to a art museum but today I got lucky and was able to go to The Museum of Fine Arts. I was very pleased with all the art and allusions. Every painting has a story so art is one thing we should appreciate more.

One of my favorite part of the trip was the tunnel. It was a grand allusion , that took me by surprise! Honestly I loved the tunnel. It made me feel like I was floating in space.

This Art work was astonishing! It made me feel kind of scared but it kinda spoke to me. This painting by William Bouguereau, The Elder Sister was an explaination of how an  older sister cares for there sibiling . I truly feel that this painting is very depressing.

This painting was a yellow fellow as I like to say. I loved the way the artist used the diffrent shades of yellow to display his painting. This painting makes me feel happy the color yellow tends to do that alot.

This piece was incredible it made me feel like I was in an african place or in a tribe. This art work really makes the frame behind it pop out because of the use of color and texture. They go hand and hand together

The Differences

The difference between two people going to the so called better place is that how much money they leave.
How will your grave look when you pass on? Some fortunate people have enough money to buy a whole lot for themselves and keep their grave in top shape. On the other hand some are not so fortune and soon their grave become only a part of the ground.

We visited Glennwood, Glennwood has
many space for the gone. The graves are
keeped in top shape and are well
preserved. Some even go back to 1998
when I was born. All of this is possible by the power of money.

Some of the richest people can afford a place like this. As you can see to the rigth the mausoleum is where all the family of one is kept.

This poor cemetery was only used for African Americans back in the day.
Now it is an abandon lot. The graves are out of the ground
and weed and branches every where.
This shows that there is no care for the graveyard.
